Knights honor award winners at year-end banquet
/At their year end banquet the Knights of Columbus honored several award winners and PROP (People Reaching Out to People). Those honored were: Wendell Ryan, Knight of the Year, Stan and Bonnie Riegert Knight Family of the Year, Sarah Fisher Catholic High School Scholarship Award winner, Tommy Beutz Catholic High School Scholarship Award winner and Matthew Shireman Vocation Award winner.
Mary Brown, Director of Development for PROP, accepted a check for a two door freezer to be used at their food service center. She thanked the Knights for their ongoing support and explained the need for food center volunteers. Sarah Fisher attended with her family to accept her Catholic High School Scholarship Award and a letter was read from the family of Tommy Buetz, the second Catholic High School Scholarship Award winner. Matthew Shireman received the Vocation Scholarship Award introduced himself, thanked the Knights and told everyone a little bit about vocations.
Knight of the Year, Wendell Ryan accompanied by his wife of 60 years, Mary, expressed his gratitude after a term of service spanning almost six decades many of which were served as Council Advocate.
Knight Family of the Year Stan and Bonnie Riegert and two daughters were also in attendance. Stan and Bonnie were recognized not only for their work with the Knights but in the St. Hubert's Church as well where they were instrumental in the construction of an Adoration Chapel and the installation of votive candles. Stan is also a 4th Degree Knight and has a devotion to praying the Rosary.
The wives of several of the Knights also attended and enjoyed the meal catered by Famous Dave's.
